Friday.
Morning run. Was supposed to be slow. It was but it was actually tougher to do slow. So I sped up then I slowed down. It was a little lame.
I got it in. I went for a swim and some resistance training.
Left at 10am. Golf at 11:20 we played as a group of 6. It’s 2:25 now after a cpl stops at co-op.
I got an 8 on the first hole. Having no feels with anything. Pulled the drive over the highway left. And then shots to follow didn’t improve much.
Fortunately the wedge and putting were perfectly reasonable right from the start.
I’m standing over the ball with an iron tho and have no solid knowledge of where it goes.
And yet. I am equipped to diagnose. Debug and build quickly.
I shot 7 over with a triple bogey on the opening hole. One putt hit a literal divot in the ground I didn’t see. Popped it up. Stuff like that.
My best shots. After that lame miss on par 3 waiting. Next par 3 I felt the release. And thwacked it. Flushed it. Absolutely.
And that’s all it takes really to get that feel that anxiety out and that feel in.
Almost chipped in. With pitching wedge chosen. Super solid there.
And next drive. I lined it up and absolutely piped it. So there you go. It’s been however long since I played last. I can’t get too caught up in disappointment.
I can feel good about making progress towards letting those feels go. Every time that happens it sticks a little more. And frankly yeah I was able to patch together with some guesses mid round, but so satisfying when you can start thwacking it connecting where it’ll go.
Leads me to the last shot there. And I set up. Such that a draw would happen. And the more I do those ones like that. And get that result. That’s what the hole called for. Iron of the tee. And it was a beautyyyy
I had some bad shots made up by long putts too. The greens were rolling nicely for like 20 bucks or something to play 9
I had the triple and then nothing worse than bogey. No birdies tho.
The drive was not dialled from the beginning. But pretty quickly and confidently. After each swing I got closer. Remember my cues on the ground with the club grip stance etc. but then look down the fairway. Those handful of absolutely majestic shots are the story. Plus the short game that’s super solid.
