6:03am — race day!
I wake up, Lauren tells me she loves me. Or she says don’t hurt myself. Not sure which was first. But that she’ll still love me even if I hurt myself. But don’t hurt myself. Ok. Got it. I promise I’ll never hurt myself ever again. lol.
Yeah. Let’s hope I don’t hurt myself. So far so good tho. Body feels good enough all over. And starts with a number 2. Which is interesting to time. I wasn’t too sure. So. Probably pretty ideal.
7:05 — eating that super cereal and banana. had to stretch my left leg out quite a bit. It’s definitely feeling better. But wtf. It had sorta strained all the way from knee to my stomach. Had to kneed it out. Roller and ball.

11:35 — half marathon. Official. Proper full on. Chip timed. Strava has my half marathon distance. Timed at 2:01:35
The chip. Line to line was 2:01:51
I was sooo close to breaking the 2 hour mark. Which would’ve been sweet. I caught the 2:10 pacer and am pleased I never looked back.
Taking a hot bath, kinda like a hot tub.
>> needed extra time to stretch out my left leg. I was almost late for the race. lol. So much traffic. Breakfast was solid. Coconut water with lemon with a tablespoon of salt. Not sure if it was table or tea. It was definitely salty enough tho.
That extra time was perfect tho. Needed to get the strain out. And in the run felt none of it. Got some voltarin and motion on that area and the knees. So. That probably helped as well.
I felt the odd soreness. A touch of pain here and there. Fortunately. Not in the tender part of the knee. And actually going up on grass for some stretches was like running on clouds. So good. I went with the Nikes this race. Sorta last minute decision. Was the right one. Feet felt good in them. And actually pinky toe was perfectly fine too. So that was wonderful. I knew what to expect. And they performed. Probably not as bouncy tho. But whatever. I was just looking to complete this thing. I’m sure different shoes would make me faster.
I am sooo glad I just got it done. Now it’s on me to recover properly. Today. Especially. Do my stretching.
I know for sure the quads need more work. Core needs more work. Calves need to keep getting stretched and strengthened.
I think yeah. It’ll be longer. I will have a slower pace. I’ll get it done tho. And I think the terrain. Will be more interesting. And potentially less taxing on my legs. Using different muscles. This run was just very monotonous. Like you’re on a treadmill.
I think blasting my legs on the hills. Important. Yesss. Building endurance there. With that.
I’m curious how my body feels after this. I literally couldn’t walk a few weeks ago. Only this recent week did I attempt to get out for a very pedestrian walk run. And then I go crush a half marathon. Personal best in the 10k too. With gas in the tank to crush the sprint at the end. Was actually quite fun lol. Trying to get this other guy to race me.
What a beautiful day for a run too. Was absolutely epic.
1:42 — had my protein shake. Theragun also on the legs. The boys helped.
On the list today is.
Finish up the front plate. Where I painted. Need to attach that cover.
Wash windows.
Then I need to pack for my trip.
2:05 — feeling it the most in my quads.
7:28 — feeling it in my knees now. It just feels like I ran a long ways today. On pavement. My stride was nice tho. My speed was actually pretty sweet.
We got the front vent cover thing. Basically on. A little touch up needed. Then I cleaned the windows. So we got that. Then helped a bit with diner and tidy up and kitchen cleanup. Dishwasher on. Then kids in bath I started packing up for work trip tomorrow.
