9:15am
Thatcher was up with a nosebleed around 5ish am. I had my alarm set for 5:30. Lauren was up with him, I was up with him earlier for his nosebleed around 12:30.
I got up and started with ball in hip. stretches. Etc.
Then out to the hill. The good news. Is that my knees don’t feel wonky no more.
The stretching. And the strengthening. The quad workouts are what I’m after.
I’ve been doing them. And then recovering from them. And now my last chances to get after it with them as we are closing in on the final days of training.
In theory I have a long run I need to complete tomorrow tuesday September 30
I have the kids to drop off in the morning. Then Ive got a massage booked for 9 something. An hour massage.
We’ll do that. Then hydrate and fuel.
I’m thinking we make a stop for some gels potentially. First.
There’s a question mark about the running vest.
If maybe that outdoor store has the right size.
Question mark if I can get away with what I’ve got.
I took a look. There’s a cheaper option which I think works great. 125. Or even cheaper would be the belt with a pouch and a water bottle.
I’ll go check that out at the north face spot Tuesday after my massage.
1:31 pm — i finally hooked up tens to my hip. I should’ve been more diligent with this. It’s insanely good at grabbing that spot that’s tight.
The standing work station at home is insanely good. Being able to squat or stand or kneel or whatever. It’s all about moving around and naturally that’s putting me into positions that stretch stuff out. It’s like I gained however many hours of stretching now.
Also getting on my feet for more hours. So I’m more used to that as well. Should’ve done this ages ago. Alas, the learning continues right up to race day.
Glad my calves have behaved since returning from that wild 2.5 week injury. That was brutal! Wow.
I am concerned that I’m not physically strong enough. I’m going to bonk. I wonder how long I can make it. I think fuelling properly will help. Curious how I do my lead in. How much rest I’ll get and do. Ultimately. The focus is going to be. Run as if I have to complete 100k. I can’t be imagining and wishing for it to end. I need to be mentally prepared. That my body will burn. It will hurt. My knees I hope hold up. And the other parts.
Know that my back muscle is super strong. My core is strong.
We have been running more than ever in my life. We have been training.
I recovered just fine after the Saturday run. Which simulated the terrain decently well. A bit too sore after tho. Same day. Alas, stepping stone.
Hills today. I think they were fine. backwards up hills blitzed my quads nicely. I should do a few more of those. Plus protein. Tomorrow my last long run. I have the day off but I’ll be searching for a running belt. I have a massage at 9:20 to 10:20.
Then go find a running belt.
Then get some gels potentially.
Then get out for a run. Should be nice and limber.
I’ll have had a good breakfast I think.
I think the things I’m concerned about the most.
My nutrition leading up to it. The meals.
Then my breakfast meal.
Then figure out my gel and bar strategy.
I’m concerned it will be cold. I have that shell layer which will be ideal. I’ll need to have gloves and a hat.
The weather keeps changing. So I’m concerned it will be a slog. It will be wet.
I’ll need to make sure I’ve got a sufficient shell layer which can breath.
I need extra socks and underwear. I should maybe buy some new athletic underwear.
I’m concerned about which shirt I should wear. I’ll need to bring extras.
I’m concerned about my toes. And which socks I should wear. I’ll need to bring extras.
Bring thin pair for when my feet are swollen.
I’ll need to bring motion lotion. And voltarin and reactin.
And the theragun.
When I circle back to be able to hit whatever spots I need to address before setting out.
I’ll need to grab an Apple Watch with satellite. So people can track me. I need to get it ahead of time so I can set it up.
