The thing you don’t want to do.

That’s the thing you’re supposed to do.

Example. I don’t neeed to go into the office tomorrow. I can work from home 4 days of the week. Just Wednesday is when we have our in person team meeting.

The challenge is. Deciphering when what you don’t want to do. Is indeed the better call. Versus doing the thing you don’t want to do.

But I guess that internal knowing. You’re only resisting because it’s a bit of extra effort. But there’s more to it.

Somehow. When you decide. That the thing you were resisting. When you say you’ll do that hard thing. And then internally you have that voice. Which knows that that’s the right choice.

Ideas come to mind.

Choose the harder path for you. In that moment. Across time. When at a cross roads. What path presents more challenges. The most challenge.

That’s the path that will make you grow. Force your growth.

But sometimes it’s level 1000 path. And you need to level up. Get a lay of the land.

You might in that instance. See way down on the path. Extreme challenge. Work your way there with choices closer to you.

Choose the harder path.

The choice that’s best for your future self.

Maybe that’s how you can decipher.

When you’re competing internally. It’s tricky to know. Could sometimes argue different ways. But ultimately you do know.

I guess some of it is having an idea higher level. Feeling where you’re at in the game.

My setup. To have my art. A constant arc in my life.

To have physical movement. Fitness. Strength. I finally cracked the code for that one. Signing up for the grizzly ultra marathon. Allowed me to engineer myself into becoming a consistent athlete. Runner. Functional fitness and muscle. Etc. to actually be doing that which I struggled to be consistent. To be consistent. I was 140lbs. I may have even gone lighter. At 5 10”. That’s pretty skinny.

Before my race I weighed in at a strong 165lbs.

With a lot more room to gain strength. That’s actually a legit distance running weight.

Point is. Only from consistency. Showing up to get my workouts in. To do my training required to complete the race. It was scary enough to trick me. That was the true value of running that race. Was signing up a year in advance.

Was learning to run. To go for runs. Learning how to fit it into my days. With a wife, two young boys, and a full time job. Without any of those being impacted. I learnt where and when and how to carve the time.

Anyways. That’s one. The golf is another.

Doing the push-up. To launch the green. The consistent thing there is showing up to track my habits.

I’m curious what my habit tracker would look like if I was doing exactly what I wished I could do.

I have not decoded that. One thing I’m working on that has a chance. Is golf.

That one is easy to be consistent. To work on. Daily. That’s the super power thing. Identified. Is practicing golf. Figuring out how to fit that in to the schedule. So that I’m getting a bit of work done on it pretty much daily. For the entire year. For years on end.

Eventually that’s going to break through in various ways. I saw more proof of that last season. Showing absolute mastery. The challenge for sure is how to guarantee I continue the trajectory. So that next year is even better. Im experienced what the protocol gave me. It took a long time and many attempts and efforts and iterations. To figure out what had impact. I simplified into a cube to help me remember.

And then. The routine. Recipe.

I was still experimenting with what worked. Last off season. Recall January what I was doing. Just wedge in the office. Then added more clubs.

But really. It’s the office. Yes. One club. With weight. The magic is hitting actual golf balls in the garage. Into the box. With the strobe. And then into a super tight target. The control room. The puzzle of the day. Remains constant. And you feel the progression more tangibly.

Helps identify what’s growing. And where. Repeat daily. This routine between these two stations. Home office and garage. Using these various augmentations. Setups etc. do that daily. As often as possible. Short bursts of intense focus. And then long stretches whenever you can find that kind of time.

Starting how tho. It’s going to be insane. I really only keyed on this circuit closer to the start of the season. Up to that I was still shifting around. Lots of options. But then simplify into the cube. Then setup in the garage. Then get the strobe light. Then get a different one with better brighter whiter light. Etc. the saga. Was figuring out the setup. Acquiring all the pieces of equipment. Then I did a bunch and experienced bliss. Mastery. A totally new level. Which was amazing. Going however many months. Then being able to hit outside.

My super power was grinding for those 6 or 7 months. Excited for that experience of hitting outside off grass at a golf course. What that will feel like with all this skill Im building and working on tiny bits daily. Excited to experience what it will feel like. I’m a crazy person to most. But for this particular thing… to me. It’s easy. It’s effortless.

Let’s have gpt summarize.

Another quote.

There’s a forest. You’re not sure where to go. In search of the holy grail.

Knights of the round table.
