In 2013 main emphasis. The smartphone case.

iPhone 4 and 5 at the time. We had a cover that brought nature to these new high tech magic devices. The flat sides and hard corners of these two devices made it possible to use wood. The original iPhones were rounded backs. Not able to match thin wood veneer to that form factor as easily.

We came out with cases and they were a hit. Product market fit.

My thoughts are.

They’ll continue to be demand. Phone cases are like combustion engines versus electric.

The install base is so high. That even when the new stuff comes out. There’s going to be a long overlap. Legacy products in the world. Slap a new case on an old phone and it’s like a brand new phone.

And the thing we’ve got different. Focused. Was emphasis on customization. The laser gave us that power.

We mastered how to use a laser machine.

We had lineage of woodworking.

We were engineers.

Put that all together.

High efficiency, low latency, super customization capability.

People don’t care about how good your production is. They care about getting their product faster. As close to instant as possible. Thought to thing. My 3 year old believes sometimes that we as parents are capable of doing such things. Constantly demanding instant results on his requests. Same with 5 year old. Same with my wife, jk, I usually have time before she wants it instantly.

We all have that.

And so.

We have this business. We are so good at making phone cases.

One of the challenges tho.

Everyone has different phones.

Would be easier if we could just ship boxes of these things around the world. Same sizes. New designs maybe sure. Customize with the destination. It’s more about the function.

That was the power of the wallet. Still is.

I have a wallet design that’s still legit. The x and the 2.0 and the OG actually. X holds it tighter. Alas.

I should put in an order from a 3d printing company / the local library.

Zero load on current production. Promotion tho. Yes. Buy decals from Owen with alto brand.

I also do believe. Sending boxes of these to boutique hotels and spas and golf courses.
